Privacy Policy
Effective September 3, 2026
NearPair is designed to keep Bluetooth discovery and device information on your Mac. We do not operate an advertising profile or sell personal information.
Information processed by the app
Nearby Bluetooth advertisements, accessory names, signal strength, connection status and supported battery values are processed locally to provide the setup experience. NearPair does not upload a history of nearby devices.
Purchases
Checkout, tax, receipts and product delivery are provided by Polar as our Merchant of Record. Polar may process your email address, billing details, payment information and related transaction data under its own privacy terms. NearPair does not receive or store your full card details.
Trial and license activation
NearPair stores the trial start date, license key and recent validation status in your Mac's Keychain. To activate or periodically validate a license, the app sends the license key and NearPair's Polar organization identifier to Polar. Nearby-device names, Bluetooth advertisements and diagnostic logs are not included.
Anonymous product analytics
NearPair uses PostHog's US service to measure anonymous downloads, active installations, trial status, license activation and selected feature outcomes. It also records which product an accessory is (“AirPods Pro”, “Galaxy Buds2 Pro”) so we know which hardware to support and test against. That product name is assembled only from a fixed vocabulary of makers and product words built into the app: every word reported is a constant in our source, never text copied from your device. A word we do not recognise stops the process, so an accessory we cannot identify is reported as “other”, never by name. The name you or its maker gave it never leaves your Mac. Each accessory also carries a one-way tag derived from its name and a value unique to your installation, which lets us tell two of your accessories apart without identifying either, and it means the same accessory on someone else's Mac never produces a matching tag. Analytics does not include accessory names, Bluetooth identifiers, license keys, email addresses or diagnostic reports. You can turn off app analytics in Preferences at any time.
Diagnostics
NearPair keeps a bounded local diagnostic log. Accessory names are redacted from exported reports by default. A report leaves your Mac only when you choose to send it.
Website hosting
This website is hosted through Vercel, which may process ordinary network information such as IP address, browser type and request logs needed to deliver and secure the site. We do not use advertising trackers or session recording.
